Regarding the use of IPMI, Hao VPS has written two inappropriate articles before. Let’s review: The first article is about using IPMI to install the system ( in the Phoenix SS computer room Original link ), this mounting ISO requires a computer room agent to operate; the second article is about using IPMI to install the system (original link ) on a machine in Las Vegas. I even did a series on Xenserver and Proxomox through this. Today, I will still talk about IPMI. I did it several times before installing Linux, but it was no longer interesting. This time we assume that windows2003 is installed. Although the installation process is the same, at least my title can be written differently. I feel more pretentious O(∩_∩)O~
Well, in fact, this article was requested by a friend. Recently, some friends bought machines from the Xinlixun computer room in Hong Kong and asked about IPMI I thought why not record it myself so that I can look at it later if I forget it and make it easier for everyone, so that I can kill two birds with one stone.
[Foreword] Due to the lack of language functions, in order to explain the process more accurately, this article uses a large number of pictures, which may cause slow loading, please be patient.
First, we log in to the IPMI management panel. After purchasing the server, we will get an IPMI address and account information. Use this information to log in to IPMI. The login page is as shown below.
ipmi01
After logging in, we select Remote Control in the main menu. You can see that there are two item submenus. I think this is the most important part of IPMI.
ipmi02
The picture below is the Server Power Control page, which can control restart, power on and off, etc. It can be used in case of a crash.
ipmi07
The following is the Console Redirection. If we want to mount the ISO through IPMI, we need to start here. Click the Java Console and the system will automatically download the jnlp file.
ipmi03
The picture below is to download jnlp in a new window. This pop-up window may be blocked by the browser. Please note that the Chrome I am using here is blocked.
ipmi04
Click to execute directly after downloading. There are two things you need to confirm. The picture below is the second time. You must choose to accept the risk.
ipmi05
The picture below is the Jviewer page. If we need to mount the ISO, select Device, then Redirect ISO, select the local ISO file, and then restart.
ipmi06
It seems that it will automatically restart after selecting ISO. If it does not restart, you can click on the Keyboard as shown below and select Alt+Ctrl+Del to restart.
ipmi08
Well, when the restart begins, we see that it is a Dell machine, which is not bad. In order to boot from the ISO we selected, we have to enter the Bios to set the boot sequence. You can see the prompt to press F2 to enter the settings in the picture, follow this.
ipmi081
After entering Bios, move to the Boot item, set the first boot device in the boot sequence to USB: AMI Virtual CD, save and exit after the setting is completed.
ipmi09
During startup, you can see the prompt to press any key to boot from CD, just press any key.
ipmi10
OK, because I previously selected a local windows2003cn.iso file when mounting the ISO, and now the windows installation interface appears.
ipmi11
I don’t need to take screenshots of the next installation process. Installing the system on your own computer should be something everyone has done. If you want to know what to do next, you can also refer to my previous post. I wrote an article on installing Windows system on XSVPS KVM in a few days (Original link).
The whole operation process is relatively simple. What you need to pay attention to is that after loading the ISO, set the startup sequence in the Bios. Also, if your local upload is slow, the entire installation process will also be prolonged because you are loading the local file. ISO, some IPMI can directly load the network ISO, which is much faster. In addition, installing Linux is the same process, just load a different ISO.
